Leonardo DiCaprio has nine lives. In his new flick,The Revenant, the 41-year-old plays Hugh Glass, a frontiersman who survives a brutal bear attack only to be buried alive by members of his hunting team, but that’s nothing compared to his real-life brushes with death. The Insider With Yahoo sat down with the star to chat about the film and Leo opened up about a terrifying encounter with a shark. “I was in a cage in South Africa watching great whites and the great white jumped into my cage and said, ‘Hello,’” he said with a laugh. “And we hung out for a little bit and he was awesome. He’s a great guy. And then he flipped back out again.”All jokes aside, Leo admitted he feels fortunate to have made it out alive.
“They said it hasn’t happened in the 30 years they’ve been doing that but I have a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time with extreme situations like that,” he said. “I absolutely look at it as good luck because I’m here.”The actor also recently opened up toWiredabout a flight to Yahoo onthat almost ended in disaster. “I was in business class, and an engine blew up in front of my eyes. I was sitting there looking out at the wing, and the entire wing exploded in a fireball,” he said. The Hollywood A-lister recalled a third near-death experience that came when his parachute malfunctioned during a tandem skydive. “The fun part was when he said, ‘You’re probably going to break your legs on the way down, because we’regoing too fast now,’” Leo shared.Check out the video for more on that harrowing shark incident, and tune in toThe Insider With Yahooon TV tonight to see more of our sit-down with the star.
